Manor Farm Play Builder, Coventry





The request for this play space came from the local residents association of Manor Farm estate and was funded by Coventry City Council, as Playbuilder Authority. The design process started with consultation sessions in local schools, plus fun days held at the site.
These initial ideas were developed using Play England’s Design for Play guidelines, incorporating a balance between traditional play equipment and a stimulating environment. WIth an emphasis on natural play, features within the design include: logs, boulders, un-mown grass, excavations, moundsand log retaining walls. Natural materials such as playbark and woodchips were used for safety surfacing and Robinia logs for play equipment.
To give the scheme community revelance, the design bacame based around the local legend of a pirate grave which was recreated on site as a play feature.
