Following study at Leeds Metropolitan University, Mark travelled and worked in East Asia and Australia and commenced his career initially in the Public Sector with the Local Authorities of Kirklees Metropolitan District Council and Rotherham Borough Council. A period of freelance and private practice work followed this and he joined Barry Chinn Associates in 2003.
He has worked on a variety of project sectors including a major mixed use development in Dartford, housing developments in the UK and Isle of Man, major logistics/ distribution projects in the UK along with healthcare facilities and public open space projects in Yorkshire, retail/ supermarket stores in the Midlands and more recently car dealership and waste to energy projects across the UK.
Mark believes that early collaboration between Engineers, Architects and Ecologists and forming a good working relationship with Main Contractors, particularly on large projects is key to achieving practical and creative high quality landscape schemes and enjoys working with other Consultants and Contractors in solving technical challenges during the design process.
Key work areas: Site Analysis, Planning Applications, Tender Documentation, Logistics and Commercial Park Landscape Infrastructure and Plot Landscape Design, Site Supervision and Project Co-ordination.
When not at work:
Mark enjoys cycling and walking in his native Yorkshire landscape, skiing in the Alps and a good northern pint shared with family or friends.
